Last year was the first time in a long time that I stayed in Melbourne (instead of visiting the parentals in Tassie) over the Christmas/New Year period.

I discovered that the dining/cafe scene at this time offers pretty slim pickings. Everything’s frickin’ closed!!
I was sharply reminded that we are drawing very near to Tumbleweed Time again when I went to visit Mixed Business in Clifton Hill for brekky this morning, and discovered that they’re closed ALREADY.

SO. For those of us stuck here again these holidays – let us put our collective brains together and list any decent places to eat that are actually open. Post away in the comments, people!

(Feel free to also post any places that you know are going to be closed.)

as a CBD dweller it’s usually pretty grim this time of year

Oooh good list – that’s definitely a good start. Thanks for the link.

We definitely need more CBD options on the list. What about City Wine Shop & The European, they’re usually open aren’t they?

I know Cumulus Inc is closed until January.

7th Jan Liaison – closed until the 31st January (weep) Grower’s
Espresson closed until 10th (I think) De Clieu sounds like my
    coffee option

Just noticed this post is from 2010…but meh :p

For 2011, St Ali is a given for all but Xmas Day (not sure about NY day)

Ryan and the good folks @thepourkids [Axil Coffee] 1E Winter Street, Malvern the same.

Omar and the Marvellous Coffee Bird [124 Gardenvale Road, Gardenvale] ditto (just dont ask for a x-large, soy, decaf to go unless you want to be escorted out by security…and quite rightly)

If you cant make it to any of these fine establishments for your caffeine fix, then you obviously arent really in need ;)
